Tampa Bay Academy - Tampa, FL

History

Tampa Bay Academy was founded in 1988 by a psychiatrist, a therapist, and an administrator/owner of a group of skilled care facilities. They believed that a special facility was needed for those children and adolescents whose behavior warranted a level of intervention not available in existing acute psychiatric hospitals.

At the time of Tampa Bay Academy's founding, the environment consisted of many children who were treated for extended lengths of time in hospitals. It was believed that these children and adolescents needed a less institutional environment that specifically met their needs and was less institutional. It was also necessary for Tampa Bay Academy to provide an environment in which the children and adolescents could experience a community of their peers just as they do in the community to which they will return upon discharge.

Today, Tampa Bay Academy provides a full array of educational services to those children and adolescents who are entrusted to our care.

Tampa Bay Academy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Youth and Family Centered Services, Inc.
